Remember when COVID taught us that just about anything was possible to do virtually? Why just have a Zoom happy hour when you can do Zoom karaoke?!?

How to share a recorded backing track on Zoom:

  1. Find the accompanying music on your computer. Tip: Search YouTube for “karaoke” plus whatever song (or artist or decade) you want to sing. Test out the version you find.

  2. Set your music track to the beginning of the song, test play it, then rewind to the beginning and pause.

  3. Join Zoom meeting. Wait your turn.

  4. To start, click the “Share” button. A sharing window will pop up. Select “Advanced”.

  5. Select “Share Music or Computer Sound only” - you’ll know you’re successful if you see “You are sharing computer sound” at the top of your Zoom window.

  6. Start your music. You already cued up your music beforehand (especially important if using YouTube, to skip the usual ad!)

  7. Sing your heart out 🎤

  8. At the end of your song, click the red “Stop Share” button at the top of the screen

I made a little how-to video to walk you through it:
